Coming Soon
Celebrate this nations 238th birthday with a parade of fireworks over Oologah Lake, A reairing of the show at Oologah Lake will be coming soon to Oologah Lake Leader TV.
The anticipation at Redbud Marina is building for the upcoming Fourth of July Spectacular that will light the night sky over Oologah Lake with vivid shades of red, white and blue. The fireworks will start about 9:30 p.m. on July 4 and will be a 45-minute exhibition of patriotism and freedom. It is not just Redbud that is preparing for an eventful weekend but the entire lake.
Mike Fawcett and his son Michael, along with a team of dozen volunteers, will conduct the symphony of fireworks that will showcase a variety of intricate designs.
The show is free and the Army Corps of Engineers will open the lake gates free of charge for this event.
Recreational features at Oologah Lake including all boat ramps and swimming beaches will be open and available for public enjoyment during the weekend.
During the holiday, Rangers will be on the lookout for children wearing lifejackets. The Rangers will be “ticketing” children observed wearing a lifejacket near the lake. The “ticket” can be redeemed for a free Frosty Ice Cream at any local Wendy’s. This water safety initiative is a cooperative effort sponsored by the Corps, OHP, Safe Kids, and Wendy’s.
At press-time, the majority of the campsites with electrical services are occupied and/or reserved thru the busy weekend. There are however still some nice non-electrical campsites available on a first-come first-served basis in some of the Corps campgrounds.
