Gone are the days when there were artists that dominated the musical landscape like Mr. James Brown, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, etc. There are no bands as big as the Beatles were or even as big as U2 used to be. Musical tastes have diversified so there are dozens of different genres and sub-genres which have their own following and fans. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll ever see a massive selling album to rival the sales of Dark Side of the Moon because nobody appeals to that many people anymore.
